The Holy Land - The footsteps of Christ

23 - 31 March 2020

from £1245

Spiritual Director: Reverend Fr. Shaju Varkey

7 night / 8 Day pilgrimage to the Holy Land

The birthplace of Jesus Christ is a must-see for pilgrims wishing to walk in his footsteps and visit the milestones of his life. The Holy Land is a place where stories from the Bible come alive.
Let Scripture be your guide & absorb the spirit of the Holy Land by exploring selected Biblical sites spread throughout Israeli / Palestinian cities,
around half of them in the vicinity of Jerusalem and another third in the Galilee, mainly in Nazareth and around the Sea of Galilee.
Our classic pilgrimage itinerary includes at 7 full days exploring the most important sites including Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Cana, Nazareth, Mount Tabor, the Mount of Beatitudes, Capernaum & Jericho.  We have also included excursions to the Dead Sea, a cruise on the sea of Galilee and a visit to 'The Man of the Shroud' Exhibition.

7-night / 8-day pilgrimage including return flights from Heathrow with El Al Airlines, private group transfers, full religious itinerary with daily Mass, escorted by a qualified biblical guide,   4* Hotels throughout on a half-board basis with 3 nights in Nazareth & 4 nights in Bethlehem.  Much more included!

All about: The Holy Land - The footsteps of Christ

Our pilgrimage will follow in the footsteps of Jesus in Galilee and Jerusalem. Whilst in the Galilee area, we will visit Nazareth; the town where Jesus sent his youth. We will visit Capernaum; the fishing village which became the center of Our Lord’s ministry, as well as other places associated with the events of the Gospel such as Cana, the Mount of Beatitudes, Tabgha & Mount Tabor.

In Jerusalem, we will retrace Jesus’ steps from Bethany to Gethsemane and along the Way of the Cross to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. We will visit Bethlehem, Jericho, Muhraqa, Bet Arabah, Mount Carmel and spend some time at the Dead Sea.

I hope many will want to join me & my parishioners from the Parish of St Boniface in Tooting, on this unique spiritual journey following in the steps of Our Lord. We will celebrate the Sacraments, pray together and read from the Scriptures in the various places where it happened.
By coming on this pilgrimage you will have a chance to support many local Christians in the Holy Land and the investment that this pilgrimage represents will play a small part in helping sustain the ‘living stones’ that help keep this land holy today.
I very much look forward to making this pilgrim journey together.

The currency is Israeli Shekel (₪) however Euros (€) and U.S. Dollars ($) are also widely accepted. Dollars are the best currency to take! There are numerous ATM available but these only distribute Israeli Shekel. Credit cards are accepted almost everywhere.
Hebrew and Arabic are the official languages although many people speak English.
Normally $12 - $20 per day for a lunch meal.
During mid-May the weather is slightly cooler than the summer months but can reach highs of 27+. Evenings & nights can be cooler especially in Jerusalem, so a light warm jacket will be required. Best to dress in layers as the temperatures can vary between 15 – 30 degrees during the day.
If you are a British or Irish passport holder you need not apply for a Visa. Since January 2013, on arrival, visitors are given an entry card instead of an entry stamp. YOU MUST SAFELY keep this card with your passport until your departure date. This is evidence of your legal entry into Israel and may be required, particularly at any crossing points into the Palestinian Territories.
